Man United’s Leny Yoro injury fear as Erik ten Hag braces for huge blow

Manchester United are concerned new signing Leny Yoro could be sidelined for up to two months with a fractured metatarsal.

Yoro, 18, was seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot at United’s pre-season tour training base at the UCLA on Tuesday after he was forced off injured in the first half of their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles on Saturday.

United manager Erik ten Hag said the club would know within 24 hours what the extent of Yoro’s and Rasmus Hojlund’s injuries were and the club took four days to disclose Yoro’s injury.

Yoro nor Hojlund have trained since they were withdrawn against Arsenal and neither have travelled with the United squad to San Diego for their friendly against Real Betis at 7pm PT on Wednesday night.

Ten Hag is not due to speak publicly to external media until Thursday, when he could clarify the severity of Yoro’s and Hojlund’s injuries.

United recorded 66 separate cases of injury and illness that caused a player to miss a game last season and the club often did not specify players’ injuries.

Yoro joined United from Lille for a fee rising to €70million earlier this month and he made his first start in the friendly win against Rangers ten days ago.

United are open to signing up to three centre backs this summer, having had two offers rejected for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The club are also understood to have verbally agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich centre half Matthijs de Ligt.

Victor Lindelof is available for transfer as he is out of contract next year. The 30-year-old resumed full training on Monday after missing the first three friendly matches of pre-season.
