Major Boost for Manchester United as Key Players Return to Training Ahead of US Pre-Season Tour

Manchester United have received a significant boost ahead of their US pre-season tour as several key players have returned to training. This positive development comes after United’s recent 2-0 victory over Scottish giants Rangers at Murrayfield, following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rosenborg.

Erik ten Hag’s side showcased a strong performance against Rangers, with Amad Diallo and Carrington academy graduate Joe Hugill finding the back of the net in either half. The squad that traveled to Edinburgh was a mix of senior stars and promising youngsters, reflecting the club’s depth and talent.

Prior to the match, United announced that Antony, Victor Lindelof, and Marcus Rashford would miss the game due to “physical niggles.” Rashford, who featured against Rosenborg, was notably absent, which raised concerns among fans. Additionally, Harry Maguire was excluded from the traveling squad to continue his recovery from a lengthy injury spell, while Scott McTominay was also unavailable as he regains match fitness after Euro 2024 with Scotland.

On Tuesday, United provided a positive update, confirming that all five players—Antony, Lindelof, Rashford, Maguire, and McTominay—participated in a training session at Carrington. They were joined by Danish duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, along with goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

United will of course make their way to the United States on Wednesday.

United’s official website stated, “Antony, Victor Lindelof, and Marcus Rashford sat out of the match in Edinburgh with small niggles, while Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay continued their fitness work at the training ground. The Danish pair [Eriksen and Hojlund] trained on their first day back after a period of post-Euros rest and recuperation, while Tom Heaton also returned to base following his role as a training goalkeeper with England in Germany.”

The return of these key players significantly boosts Erik ten Hag’s options as Manchester United prepares for upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool in the US. The team’s increasing fitness and depth are promising signs ahead of the competitive pre-season matches.

Manchester United will depart for the United States on Wednesday, ready to continue their preparations and build on their recent performances.
