Jordan Love apparently ‘had a lot to do with’ Packers’ new helmet design

The Green Bay Packers’ new predominantly white ‘winter warning’ kits have been a polarizing topic. The new look comes after years of squabbling between fans who either want a more “modern” alternative uniform and fans who think the historic green and gold is perfect just the way it is. Some praise them as a breath of fresh air, while others gnash their teeth. For what it’s worth, I’m in the third “meh, this is fine” category.

The real point of contention has been the helmet — a mostly white shell with green lines and a notable lack of gold (aside from some specks in the shell if you get close enough and squint).

Whatever your feelings on the new helmet design (please let us know in the comments), it sounds like you have a new party to thank (or blame) — quarterback Jordan Love.

Appearing Tuesday on Up & Adams with host Kay Adams, Packers defensive end Rashan Gary said, “I think J Love had a lot to do with it.” When pressed for more details, Gary declined, saying, “Those conversations? Got to keep them tight. Gotta keep in the locker room.

The Packers are set to debut their new alternate uniforms at Lambeau Field on Sunday, October 20, against the Houston Texans.
