Joan Jordan to Rangers: Loan Deal ‘Unlocked’ with Transfer Option

The impending loan move of Joan Jordan to Rangers is reportedly close to being “unlocked” with a transfer option included. The 30-year-old Sevilla midfielder has been linked with a summer switch to Ibrox after being informed that he no longer has a future at the La Liga club.

An initial offer was rejected by Sevilla’s club chiefs, who were reluctant to cover a substantial portion of the player’s wages to facilitate the move. Despite having two years left on his contract, Jordan appears ready to move on after being left in no doubt about his future at Sevilla.

Sporting director Victor Orta elaborated on the situation, stating, “They have been told that they are not part of the project. We respect their contracts, but it is better for them to choose other options. The club informed Jordan’s representatives of its intention, we thought that his cycle had ended. It has been very clear to him. His representative had a meeting with the club, and it was clearly stated to him.”

Journalist Jose Manuel Garcia has reported that a deal for Jordan to join Rangers is close. He claims the loan switch is set to include a buy option priced at €5 million.

Concerns had been raised that La Liga and the Spanish Footballers’ Association might intervene in Jordan’s situation after the midfielder was left out of a friendly against Orlando Pirates. Reports from Spain indicated that his situation was being monitored, with the decision to leave him out of the pre-season match described as “one more step in the plan drawn up by the Sevilla club so that the player leaves before the end of the summer transfer window.”

According to the AFE rule, “Not allowing a footballer to participate in a training camp may constitute a serious breach of contract and of his/her rights, as provided for in articles 4.2, sections a and b, and 17.1 of the Workers’ Statute; also as established in article 7.4 of Royal Decree 1006/1985, which regulates the employment relationship of professional athletes.”

As Rangers edge closer to securing Joan Jordan on loan, fans can look forward to potentially seeing the experienced midfielder donning the Rangers jersey. For the latest updates on this developing story, check out the original article on Rangers Review here.
