- Ianis Hagi could be weeks away from departing Rangers along with one of his team-mates, according to Derek Ferguson.
The Romania international has been at Ibrox since January 2020, accruing well over 100 appearances during that time.
ahead of the summer transfer window, at which point his contract expires.
And in the view of player-turned-pundit Ferguson, it is likely that both Hagi and fellow out-of-contract teammate Tom Lawrence will walk away.
Rangers braced for multiple summer exits
Hagi and Lawrence are two of seven Rangers players either due to be out of contract in the coming weeks or return to their parent club
which will likely be the case for Hagi and Lawrence.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Ferguson said: “I think both of those players will go.Lawrence is similar to Balogun in terms of his injury record – can he play 10 games in a row? He’s a decent player but I think Rangers will look further afield for new options in both positions.”Rangers need to act fast to replace Hagi and Lawrence
Hagi spent the early stages of the campaign on the outside looking in, but his situation has since changed and he is now an important squad player.
Lawrence, too, has also been used regularly when fit. However, staying fit really has been an issue for the Welshman. He has played 25 times in all competitions this season, chipping in with six goals and another couple of assists. While it is a stretch to say he is a valuable member of the squad, Lawrence – and more so Hagi – will need to be replaced in what is set to be a busy summer transfer window at Ibrox.
With the takeover at Rangers soon set to go through, hopefully it ushers in a new era in which higher-calibre players are recruited.
- As for Hagi and Lawrence, they will no doubt have a selection of clubs to choose from away from Glasgow as they look to restart their careers elsewhere.
