Hulk Hogan, the legendary American wrestler, made headlines at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee by announcing his endorsement of former U.S. President and Republican candidate Donald Trump. Hogan’s dramatic reveal, which included tearing off his T-shirt to display a tank top emblazoned with Trump’s name and that of his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, was met with roaring applause from the crowd.
“He’s going to win in November, and when he does, we’re all going to be champions again,” Hogan proclaimed. “He’s been the greatest patriot, and he still is. He’s always said exactly what he thinks, and regardless of the odds, he always finds a way to win.” Hogan, who has known Trump for 35 years, spoke passionately about the former president’s impact on the country.
Hogan: “The Only One Who Can Fix It Is Trump”
Hogan praised Trump’s first term (2017-2021), stating that the United States had never been better off than under his leadership. He contrasted this with his criticism of the Biden administration, highlighting issues such as border control and rising prices for food and gasoline. “The only one who can fix it is Trump,” Hogan asserted, as Trump acknowledged him with a grateful gesture.
The 70-year-old wrestling superstar was a surprise speaker on the final day of the conservative convention. His appearance came just before Trump’s first public speech since surviving an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Hogan’s fervent endorsement included a rallying cry to the audience: “After the attempt on his life last week, enough is enough. Let’s let Trumpamania run wild, brother. Let’s make America great again,” echoing Trump’s famous slogan.
From Obama Supporter to Trump Advocate
Hogan’s political views have evolved over the years. In 2008, he supported Democrat Barack Obama’s candidacy but shifted his allegiance four years later. According to The Washington Post, Hogan expressed a desire in 2015 to be Trump’s running mate. Although he recently hinted at a potential presidential run himself, this has not come to fruition.
Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, rose to fame in the 80s and 90s as part of the Wrestling Federation (WWE). His career has not been without controversy, including a high-profile legal battle in 2013 that led to the downfall of gossip site Gawker after it published a sex tape of him. Trump’s relationship with professional wrestling is well-documented, having sponsored several events and even participated in scripted fights.
