‘Decision is made’ – ex Leeds United man tells Celtic what they need to do to secure top transfer target

Danny Mills have given his opinion on the long-running Adam Idah transfer saga

Former Norwich City defender Danny Mills insists that the Canaries should allow Adam Idah to join Celtic this summer but believes that a replacement needs to be lined up first.

Idah scored an impressive nine goals in 19 appearances for the Hoops last season during a successful six month loan spell which saw him lift the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double.

Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he wants to keep the Republic of Ireland international on board but is yet to reach an agreement with Norwich City over the player’s transfer fee.

Football Scotland reports that Celtic will need to stump up more cash to prise Idah away from Carrow Road while Mills believes a move for the player is the best thing for both parties with less than a month to go until the start of the new season.

Speaking to Football League World, via 888poker, Mills said: “It’s so difficult if a player wants to leave and move on, but Norwich City must understand where Adam’s head is at and also if they receive a bid which is too good to turn down, then the decision is made for them.

“He’s a good player and naturally we want him to stay and hope he does as he can have a big season for Norwich City

“Norwich have ambitions for the play-offs so he would be key to making this happen, but a decision must be made quickly as if he moves on, it’s key to bring in a suitable replacement.”

New Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup has so far insisted that he wants Idah to be a part of his pre-season plans. The 23-year-old has only managed 12 goals in 99 appearances for the Canaries and has largely been used as an impact substitute during his time at Carrow Road.

However, Thorup feels Idah’s experience at Parkhead will benefit his Norwich City side’s chances of promotion next term, but Idah, who is a lifelong Celtic fan, is reportedly keen to return to Glasgow this summer as he targets further silverware north of the border and the opportunity to represent the Hoops in the Champions League next term.

The Canaries have already lost frontman Christos Tzolis to Fortuna Dusseldorf this summer after the Greek star rediscovered the form that deserted him in Norfolk during his time on loan in Germany last season.

The East Anglia side are currently yet to sign a forward this window and are currently thin on options with just Ashley Barnes and Josh Sargent expected to lead the line next term.
