Everton to Leave Goodison Early After Construction Crisis at New Stadium
Everton Football Club is reportedly set to leave Goodison Park earlier than planned due to a major construction crisis at their new stadium site at Bramley-Moore Dock. According to internal sources, delays and structural issues discovered during a recent inspection have forced the club to reconsider its transition timeline — potentially abandoning Goodison before their new home is fully ready.
The £760 million project, initially expected to be completed by the summer of 2025, has now run into unexpected setbacks including supply chain issues, budget overruns, and concerns over foundation stability near the waterfront location. Construction teams have informed the club that full stadium readiness could be delayed by up to 6–9 months.
With Goodison Park already undergoing planned decommissioning works, Everton may be left without a home ground that meets Premier League standards unless urgent contingency plans are made.
One option under consideration is to ground-share temporarily with another Merseyside club or use a nearby stadium, such as Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park or even Anfield — though the latter is highly unlikely due to the rivalry with Liverpool FC.
